Announcements
- State of Kansas Volleyball Stat Leaders Announced
The Kansas Volleyball Association compiles and determines stat leaders for the state. They have been released and Wabaunsee has two starters appearing in the top 20 in two different statistical categories.
Sierra Barron is 7th in the state in serving percentage. Sierra had 98.49% good serves. She only had 5 errors out of 331 serves this past season. And many times Sierra was jump serving for Wabaunsee! That's an incredible feat!
Denise Ginavan is 8th in the state in digs. A dig is a ball that has been passed from an attack and is playable. Denise had 425 digs during the 2007 season. Now that's a libero every team wants to have!!
Nice job, girls!!
- Kayla Anderson also has some great volleyball news. Kayla will be signing to play at Baker University in Baldwin City, KS next year. Baker is a 4-year university that is a member of the NAIA, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the HAAC, Heart of America Athletic Conference. HAAC has member schools in southern Iowa, Missouri, and eastern Kansas. Congratulations, Kayla!!
- Seniors, Denise Ginavan and Kayla Anderson, have been selected to the Mid-East League All League team! All League consists of the top 12 players in the league as voted on by the coaches. Cathy Hafenstine, freshman, received Honorable Mention. Awesome job!!
- Varsity takes 4th in Mid-East League! Doesn't look that great, but this is behind two teams that are State Champions in their respective classes, and another league team that has beaten them or taken them down to the wire. St. Marys is State Champion in Class 2A, Silver Lake is State Champion in 3A and Rock Creek was very competitive with each. We fought hard and played tough competition this year and came out ahead! Congrats on a winning record, 19-14, with such a tough schedule!
- JV and C-team end season with a smash! Both had winning records and many accomplishments. JV had an 11-6 record and defeated every league team at least once. C-Team ended with an 18-3 record! They also brought home the 3rd place honors at the Rock Creek Tourney and were Champions at the Onaga Tourney. Congratulations on an awesome season!!!
