Anti-Bullying Information
Submitted by Jeron Weisshaar
December 1, 2008
The 2008 Legislature amended the anti-bullying statute and effective July 1, 2008, requires school districts to:
1) adopt and implement a plan to address cyberbullying, and
2) adopt policies prohibiting bullying on school property,
in school vehicles, or at school-sponsored activities, and
3) adopt and implement a plan to address bullying, which
must include provisions for training and education of staff and students.
4) upon request of a school district, the state board
shall assist in the development of a grade appropriate curriculum for character
development programs.
USD #329 encourages the reporting of bullying incidents.
By using the online reporting form, all information will be sent first to the superintendent's office
and then disseminated to the appropriate building administrator. This allows
for one central collection point and will allow at least two administrators
to review the incident and determine appropriate action. Please be reminded
that situations that occur outside of school need to be addressed by the local
policed department first. The school online reporting form is for issues that occur at school, on (in) a school vehicle, or at
a school activity. All information will be kept confidential.
