Fort Hays State University Department of Nursing proudly presents, “The Nightingale Experience”, a two day event that focuses on careers in nursing.  Please encourage your students to apply early so they can take advantage of this great experience, which will be held on March 10 and March 11, 2010.  Our target audience for this experience is Sophomore and Junior high school students.

        There is no cost to the student to attend this two-day event, with the exception of travel expenses.  Room and board, materials, activities, and attendance at Hays Medical Center  are all included in the experience.  The day begins at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 10th and ends at 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 11th.  Students will learn about a career in nursing, visit the Department of Nursing at Fort Hays State University, stay at a residence hall overnight and observe clinical units at Hays Medical Center.  In some instances, local hospitals are sponsoring the attendance of a student for this event.   Please check to see if your local hospital is willing to sponsor a student from your school.

  Students are selected based on criteria.  A limited number of seats are available.  Early application is highly encouraged.  Applicants who apply by February 8, 2010 will be eligible for a special drawing.  The final date to return an application is February 15, 2010. Notification of each applicant’s acceptance will be sent by February 22, 2010. See Mrs. Kaiser
