Ron Yocum, President, called the regular meeting to order with all of the board members present.

Breiner moved to approve the amended agenda to include adding a WHS Field Trip Request; hiring of Assistant Track Coaches; and adding another emergency substitute teacher name to approve.  Hund seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

Principal Dan Wagner told the Board that the schools were heading into the testing season and that the Junior High would be participating in the ESU Scholarship Test.

Susan Harris, patron from Paxico, presented the Junior High/Middle School Site Council report to the Board.

The Transportation Director’s report was handed out and discussed. Joe Zeller is in the process of sending out spec sheets for a lawnmower for MHGS; new sidewalk and steps throughout the district; and awnings for MHGS and WHS. He advised the Board regarding the roof at MCVMS at Paxico and updated them regarding transportation issues and the status of the food van at Paxico.

Craghead moved to approve the consent agenda. Healey seconded. Motion carried 7-0. The consent agenda included: Approval of January 9th Regular Board Meeting minutes; Approved the Treasurer’s report; Approved payment of bills totaling $248,912.49; Approved MHGS Field Trip to KC and WHS Field Trip to Pittsburg; Accepted the food service supervisor’s report; Accepted the PDC Minutes from February 7th and Approved a new plan for Alan Loomans.

Craghead moved to approve the aligned Math Curriculum.  McCue seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

Hund moved to contribute $250 the Schools for Quality Education.  The donation would be to help in funding a study on low enrollment weighting.  Silva seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

Breiner moved to not accept Perry-LeCompton school’s request to join the Mid-East League.  Hund seconded.  Motion failed 3-4, with Silva, Healey, McCue and Craghead voting no.

Craghead moved to table the issue of Perry-LeCompton’s request to join the Mid-East League; and to have it be on the March Regular Board Meeting’s agenda.  McCue seconded.  Motion carried 4-3, with Yocum, Hund and Breiner voting no.

Craghead moved to authorize the Superintendent to put out specs to secure bids on the MCVMS roof; and for two buses and a suburban.  Hund seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

Yocum moved to accept the low bid of Future Pro, Inc. of $3,895 for wall padding at the MCVJH Gymnasium.  Silva seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

Hund moved to approve the following emergency certified substitute teachers: Michael Barelli and Jimmy Hinck. Craghead seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

Breiner moved to approve Adam Plummer and Greg Barron to be Assistant Track Coaches at MCVJH; and Ashleigh Halderman and Alex McConaghy to be Assistant Track Coaches at WHS for the 2006 Track season.  Yocum seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.

Yocum moved to go into executive session for ten minutes to discuss non-elected personnel. The purpose of the session is to protect the privacy interests of an identifiable individual. Breiner seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.  The Board reconvened at 7:47 PM.

Yocum moved to extend the building administrators’ contracts one year. Hund seconded. Motion carried 7-0.

Yocum moved to go into executive session for fifteen minutes to discuss negotiations. The purpose of the meeting was to protect the district’s right to the confidentiality of its negotiating position.

Breiner seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.  The Board reconvened at 8:05 PM.

The following was discussed in the Superintendent/Board Members Round Table: possible Weight Room equipment purchases; Infant/Toddler program status; 21st Century Drop-out Program update; English Curriculum Meeting on February 16th; Math Textbook meeting; VPL Training update and upcoming KASB Governmental Relations Seminar.

Silva moved to adjourn.  McCue seconded.  Motion carried 7-0.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:22 PM.
