WHS Cross Country Runners Medal at State

Jordan Bauer took to the course as he ran in the first race of the day.  While it wasn't a PR, it was definitely his best race of the year and nearly 2 minutes faster than when we ran this course earlier this year.  His 12th place finish earned him a state medal and All-State honors.  JB had finished 6th at Regionals and ended up beating 3 of the 5 runners who had beat him there.  Early on this season JB had set a goal of medaling at every meet and it was obvious from early in the race that he wouldn't be denied.  This is quite an accomplishment from a first time Cross Country Runner.

The girls' team came into the meet ranked 4th in the state and we had hopes of moving up one more place and bring home a trophy.  We had a solid day from everyone, but the top 3 teams were just too tough this time around.  However, this is the highest that the Wabaunsee Girls' Cross Country team has ever finished at state.  Individually, Chelsea Degan earned a medal and All-State honors.  We will have all 7 runners returning for next year and hope to continue the success we have had the last two years.

I'd like to thank all of the runners for their work during the season, and a big thank you to their parents for all of their support.  This has been a great group to work with.
