To maintain normalcy and to help somewhat control our student's school environment- To the fullest extent possible we expect all students to participate in the continuous learning opportunities offered by the district without placing additional burdens and hardships on our families. The district will continue to assist students and families in overcoming barriers and obstacles. There needs to be continued accountability and clear expectations/agreements.  With freedoms come responsibilities!  KSHSAA requirements of passing classes to be eligible to compete in the next semester will continue to be followed.  Grades can't "go down"-but can be improved, however students may still fail a course/grade if there is no effort to follow our Continuous Learning Plan. Thanks to all those who are doing everything they can to help control their own destinies.

This is not meant to inundate you, but give you a variety of lessons to choose from. I am available anytime per email if you or your student has any questions. Take this time to really look around you and see all the “art” that is really out there. Miss you... Mr. Rogers: I will assign one simple lesson each week. For vocal/choir, listen to and watch the recordings of various styles of music that I provide. Answer three questions. Please email me your answers. Band, I am working on getting a subscription to SmartMusic. Once I have it, I will instruct you how to log in and find our Essential Elements book that we use in class. Message from KSHSAA: Effective Monday, March 16, all spring sports and activities are suspended through Sunday, March 22. This includes cancellation of all practices and competitions for this week. This prohibition is consistent with KSDE and governmental guidance and may be extended, should conditions warrant. Please note spring sports team members are prohibited from club or outside team participation and practice during this period. Not only would such outside participation be contrary to handbook rule, it would be contrary to the very reason activities are cancelled during the time we seek to mitigate potential transfer of the contagion.

WABAUNSEE COUNTY EVACUATION ADVISORY DOWNGRADED TO HIGH WATER ADIVSORY The evacuation advisory for Wabaunsee County residents in and around the Kansas River flood plain has been lifted. As waters continue to recede, the potential for flooding has lowered. Residents who evacuated their homes due to the flood risk may return. Wabaunsee County officials will continue to monitor Tuttle Creek Lake and Kansas River levels, and weather forecasts. Although there are no present flooding concerns, river water levels are high, swiftly moving, and full of debris. Officials recommend people remain out of the Kansas River. Residents living in the area previously under the advisory should continue monitoring weather forecasts and water levels as weather changes may impact water levels. Up-to-date flood information may be found by visiting the Wabaunsee County Facebook pages: (Emergency Management; Sheriff, @wabaunseesheriff; Health Department, @WabaunseeCoHD; Economic Development, @wabaunsee.economicdevelopment).

An evacuation advisory is in effect for northern portions of Wabaunsee County in the Kansas River flood plain, including locations near Wabaunsee Townsite, Antelope Creek Road, Wells Creek Road, and Turkey Creek Road. At this time, we are encouraging people to take notice and consider evacuating. Within the next 24-78 hours, residents may need to evacuate due to high water impacts from the Kansas River. Water may impact homes, businesses, and nearby roads. Residents should continue to monitor news sources and feeds for updates concerning high water levels in Wabaunsee County. Be prepared to leave immediately once an evacuation order is given. AS A REMINDER, AT THIS TIME THIS IS AN EVACUATION ADVISORY ONLY. A temporary evacuation shelter will be open at noon on Thursday, May 30th, at the Alma Community Center basement, 1050 Ohio Street, Alma (west of the WHS football field). ATTENTION: Wabaunsee County residents in the Kansas River flood plain! Report your evacuation plans to Wabaunsee County officials at https://forms.gle/Cw8fMggo9hZdrVwm8 or 785-765-3821, Ext 2.

No Calendar Change-After talking with staff, we are able to absorb the 10 additional needed minutes in house at Wabaunsee Jr. High and Paxico Middle School. Our state mandated hours are based upon the school that goes the least total hours-WJH/PMS. The students are already at the schools and the staff will then begin class 10 minutes earlier at WJH and 5 minutes at PMS. Consequently, we'll reserve the right to add 10 minutes to each of the schools days in case it's needed. So, we will NOT be adding 10 minutes to the end of the school day, but will continue to not have Collaborative Starts. I apologize for the inconvenience and hopefully we'll not have to add the 10 minutes to the end of the school day

Wabaunsee schools will be in session tomorrow, Friday. However, due to-continued icy country roads buses will not run routes, but will still shuttle students at their regular times from schools to schools in the morning and reverse the procedures in the afternoon. We realize this is an inconvenience for our bus students and families. As always parents have the say if they want their children to be driving tomorrow and if you chose to excuse your student there will be no negative ramifications. Stay safe!
