COVID-19 latest update from Wabaunsee County Health Dept

I just was in conversation with Ray, Wabaunsee County Health Dept Director.  At this time the closest COVIN-19 confirmed case is in Butler County and Johnson County has 5 confirmed cases.  KSU is holding-has quarantined 14 students who recently returned from an architectural trip to Italy-none of these students have tested positive for COVIN-19.

Riley County Health Dept has closed Manhattan USD 383 schools and Geary County is delaying their start of schools.

Wabaunsee County Health Departments decision of closing schools is based totally on timing.  Once there's a confirmed COVIN-19 case or they are awaiting a COVIN-19 test result then we'd look to close.  None of those have happened yet.

Let's say we close for 2 weeks, without any confirmed case or no awaited test results; then in 2 weeks we have a confirmed case or are awaiting a test result-then we'd be out another 2 weeks for 4 weeks total to that point.

This may all change tomorrow, but right now this is the most up to date information we have.  I will continue to do my best to provide each of you the most up to date, accurate information that I have at the time.

Again, vigilant, but not panicked.  Continued prayers for God's peace which surpasses all understanding.
