State Assessment Information
Preliminary results are in from the State Assessments and they came back very good for Wabaunsee High School!  Over the next couple of years the State Assessments will be undergoing major changes, and the ways we evaluate results are already changing to reflect that.  The old AYP and Standard of Excellence are gone (we would have achieved both in reading and math), and now we have Annual Measureable Objectives (AMO’s).  For the High School, the AMO’s are Achievement, Gap, and Reducing Non-Proficient (RNP).  These are calculated for both the Reading and Math Assessments for the 11th grade.
For the Achievement goal, schools have to maintain or reduce their percent of non-proficient students and improve their score by a specified amount. We reduced our non-proficient in both subjects.  The improvement goal for WHS was 15 points for each subject.  We improved by 67 in Reading and 92 in Math!
For the Gap goal, schools have to improve the scores of their lowest 30% of students by a specified amount.  The improvement goal for WHS was 30 points in Reading and 34 in Math.  We improved by 63 in Reading and 66 in Math!
For the RNP goal, schools have to reduce their percent of non-proficient students by a specified amount.  The improvement goal for WHS was a 1.11% reduction in Reading and a 1.30% reduction in Math.  We decreased by 8.07% in Reading and 5.26% in Math!
Final results won’t be out for a little while.  Considering how far we achieved beyond the AMO standards, it is safe to say that WHS will meet all three AMO’s in both Reading and Math.  Congratulations to our Junior class on a job well done!
