On Saturday, December 3rd WJH 8th grader, Conrad Cassell, hosted the 1st Annual Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase for youth ages 6-14. An estimated 250 community members came out to shop 36 youth businesses provided by 44 youth. This was in part sponsored by Acton Children’s Business Fair, but mainly as a STAR event for National Programs in Action focused on Stand Up. According to the official FCCLA website the Stand Up program has a focus of providing activities to advocate to improve communities. After starting his own business last fall Conrad wanted to give youth the opportunity to plan, create, and sell their ideas. He believes you are never too young to be an entrepreneur. Look for the fair to return next year at a larger location to allow for even more entrepreneurs. Conrad will now prepare for the STAR Event competition at the district level in February.
