An evacuation advisory is in effect for northern portions of Wabaunsee County in the Kansas River flood plain, including locations near Wabaunsee Townsite, Antelope Creek Road, Wells Creek Road, and Turkey Creek Road. At this time, we are encouraging people to take notice and consider evacuating. Within the next 24-78 hours, residents may need to evacuate due to high water impacts from the Kansas River. Water may impact homes, businesses, and nearby roads. Residents should continue to monitor news sources and feeds for updates concerning high water levels in Wabaunsee County. Be prepared to leave immediately once an evacuation order is given. AS A REMINDER, AT THIS TIME THIS IS AN EVACUATION ADVISORY ONLY. A temporary evacuation shelter will be open at noon on Thursday, May 30th, at the Alma Community Center basement, 1050 Ohio Street, Alma (west of the WHS football field). ATTENTION: Wabaunsee County residents in the Kansas River flood plain! Report your evacuation plans to Wabaunsee County officials at https://forms.gle/Cw8fMggo9hZdrVwm8 or 785-765-3821, Ext 2.

Gently used books were given away to each elementary student in December and May. We could use more donations of chapter books, funny poetry books, and nonfiction that are in good condition. Donations can be delivered to Mrs. Tharman.
