Thankful, grateful... blessed! That's how we, the art students from WES and WJH , were once again feeling~ being able to create art on placemats for the Annual Community Thanksgiving dinner, that happened- one week ago. A total of 130 plus placemats were made by 3rd-5th & 6th graders. (see more in link, below)

Diane Barrett reached out to Tayler Sievers and I, 3 years ago- when it started, to see if we could help out! We eagerly agreed. This is what she told me about the event~

“The four churches of Alma joined together and we all play a part in making it happen.  Holy Family Catholic Church, St. John's Lutheran Church, Alma United Methodist Church and United Peace of Christ Church.

By having the students do the placemats each year… I cannot tell you the joy it brings to people who dine-in and this year we sent placemats with delivery meals. It truly feels like a community event!!!
Holy Family hosts the event each year… they have a nice big beautiful kitchen that allows us to make this meal.”

Tonight, we will be offering guided tours of the Wabaunsee High School campus before and after the Winter Musical. (5-6 PM & 7-8 PM) These walk-throughs provide an opportunity to see firsthand the condition of several instructional and support spaces in the building, including areas where aging infrastructure and facility limitations are most visible.

Tours will run before and after the performance, and our student leaders will help guide guests through the designated areas. We appreciate your partnership as we continue engaging our community in understanding the needs of our facilities and the steps ahead for our district.

Weather Update – Evening Activities Canceled

Charger Families,

Due to the snow and difficult road conditions, travel this evening will likely become treacherous. For the safety of our students, staff, and families, all evening activities are canceled, including practices, the Winter Musical concert, and the basketball scrimmage. Make-up dates for the scrimmage and the musical performance will be announced once they are confirmed. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us keep everyone safe.

Wabaunsee Elementary Parent Feedback Session
Wednesday, November 19, 2025 | 5:30 – 6:30 PM
WES Cafeteria
Parents and guardians of Wabaunsee Elementary students are invited to take part in a
guided feedback session with district and school leadership. This evening will focus on
open conversation around our shared goals for student learning, well-being, and growth.
Participants will have an opportunity to share both glows (what is working well for your
child and your family) and grows (areas where we can continue to improve together).
Dr. Troy Pitsch and Mrs. Jan Hutley will facilitate the discussion to ensure that all voices
are heard. Feedback gathered during this session will help shape priorities for the
remainder of the year and inform district planning for 2026. Light refreshments will be
provided, and child supervision will be provided in the old gym during the feedback
session.
We look forward to hearing your insights and working together to make Wabaunsee
Elementary the best it can be for every student and family.

No Emergency at WJHS – All Students Safe

An alert system at Wabaunsee Junior High School was accidentally triggered by a student this afternoon. Per protocol, the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately. There was no threat and no emergency. All students and staff are safe, and normal school operations have resumed. We are grateful for law enforcement's quick response and appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding.
